Minneapolis, MN — Angeles Law LLC represents Anderson Omar Monzon-Vasquez, a 19-year-old student and member of the community who has recently become the subject of inaccurate and inflammatory reporting in local media and on social media.
At Angeles Law, we believe in gathering all the facts before drawing conclusions, a standard the media and public commentators covering this matter have failed to meet. Reports about our client have already shifted and contradicted themselves. Initial claims suggested our client attempted to purchase a firearm while in custody, a claim that has since been quietly abandoned and replaced with a different narrative. This kind of inconsistency should give the public pause before accepting these allegations at face value.
What we can say is this: Omar is a well-liked student and soccer player in his community. Friends invited him on a hunting trip, and in that context, he made an inquiry about what would be required to obtain a hunting rifle. He was informed he did not qualify, and the matter ended there. No application or purchase form was ever submitted, and he did not pursue it further. These are not the actions of the “criminal” that some outlets are working to portray.
We understand this case has drawn public attention, and we acknowledge the seriousness with which these allegations are being handled.
